City Chic

City Chic

One of the most unique trends of the season is the pairing of casual, undone pieces with polished or dressy items. We like to think of it as “city chic,” a laid back yet fashion-forward look that can easily be work out for cocktails and for a day at the office. We’re seeing a lot of skirts paired back with casual tops and sweatshirts; track pants with pumps; and blazers over distressed denim and a t-shirt. Overall, this trend is all about texture and detailing; it’s definitely and opportunity to step outside your comfort zone!

One of the easiest way to incorporate this undone, yet pulled together vibe is through outerwear. And we instantly fell in love with this fresh, fun military jacket. It’s perfect for throwing over a dress or pencil skirt and top, adding a great pop of edge to an otherwise classic look. We love the grommet detailing and puffed shoulders which give it a nice feminine touch. To create a more office ready look, we paired it with high-waisted pinstripe trousers, a dressed up take on track pants, and then we added a bit more dressiness to the look with a pair of classic heel.

Michael’s Styling tip: We recommend mixing your dressy pieces with your casual wear for a dynamic out of the box look. We love how this casual look was made more fashionable with that nice touch of dressy accessories.
