With summer just around the corner, it’s time to reveal the pieces you must add to your warmer weather wardrobe. Overall, summer fashion is quirky, dramatic, and a little bit retro. We’re seeing bold color palettes, a mix of playful feminine fabrics, and accessories that make it easy to look stylish on the go.
Read on for all of the juicy details.
Bold Colors. Cherry red, royal blue, emerald green, bright yellow—this summer is about wearing pops of color monochromatically or as an accent to a more neutral look. We have officially moved away from pastels and into primary colors.
Sheer & Plastic. This summer brings an element of sexiness with many pieces featuring sheer, transparent, and “wet” looking fabrications on sleeves, along hemlines, or throughout whole garments. This is primarily playing out in formal dresses, skirts, tops, as well as jackets.
Ruffles & Ruching. Yes, ruffles are still with us but this time they’re bold, exaggerated, and extra feminine. We’re seeing them most of all cascading down the front of tops, accented off the shoulder or cold shoulder pieces on both dressy and casual silhouettes. And ruching is offering up similar detailing that is equally chic and feminine.
Puff Sleeves. Sleeves are officially making a big statement this summer. As one of the biggest trends of the season, there is a victorian and renaissance era vibe that we’re seeing take shape on tops, jackets, and dresses. Very feminine.
Floral Prints. Obviously we can’t have summer without floral silhouettes. What makes this season’s florals different however, is the mix of large bohemian and tropics-inspired prints. From swimwear to beach coverups to dresses, these pieces are the epitome of “summer fun.”
Mules/Cinderella Shoes. Perhaps the freshest trend of the season, footwear is having a moment and it’s all about the bold details. From color blocking to embellishments to bows, it’s time to make a wild statement your summer sandals and heels.
White. Summer wouldn’t be summer without white. While it’s nothing new, this season brings us a mix of crisp, clean, tailored, and oversized options to choose from. Think: flowy dresses, white pant suits, denim, and swimwear.
Rainbow. Multi-color retro vibes are everything this season, and rainbow is having a major resurgence. While the must have item is a rainbow dress, two-piece rainbow sets and swimwear are definitely worth investing in too.
Stripes & Polka Dots. Two staple patterns for summer, both polka dots and stripes have gotten a an upgrade. Polka dots are bigger and bolder offering up a bit of a retro feel a la Audrey Hepburn, and stripes are having a moment on button up shirts featuring primary colors. Both are classic, fun, and carrying a feminine vibe.
Belt Bags & Embellishments. Continuing with our theme of play and quirkiness, the fanny pack is back, but more stylish than ever. It’s super practical and chic, and a must for women this season. Embellishments are adding personality and pizazz to tank top straps and dresses, specifically ribbon, pearls, and rhinestones.
Plaid. Yes, summer plaid! We’re seeing Clueless-inspired looks that feature our must-wear primary color palette and they’re being paired monochromatically. Think: two piece skirt and jacket sets as well as suiting.
