One of the easiest ways to freshen up your winter wardrobe? Experiment with mixing and matching colors and textures. This is a huge trend this season and we’re seeing a really fun variety of silhouettes and pieces with opposing elements that work well together. Think: denim and fur jackets, geometric prints with florals, knits and sequins, or bold colorblocked coats. Whether it’s patterns, textures, or prints, pairing them together is an absolute must right now.
If you’re wondering how to go about styling your mix and matched pieces so that you don’t go over the top, we’ve got guidance for you! First, we recommend keeping all of your textures in one color palette, much like we did here with this look. We took a pair of black leather leggings and paired it with a gray colorblocked turtleneck sweater. Then, we layered a yellow statement coat on top that also has a touch of gray to match up with the other pieces. To finish the look, we kept the accessories neutral as well with a printed handbag and black pumps.
Michael’s Styling Tip: Mixing and matching can be done in multiple ways. For this look we styled two color blocked pieces together and paired them back to leather leggings to have a range of patterns and textures.
